Ex- NFL Player Antonio Brown Files Innocent Plea in Murder Attempt Charges

One-time NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an murder attempt charge connected with a gunfire that happened in May, with his attorney submitting a not guilty declaration on his behalf.

Detention documents in Essex County, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his transfer to Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the National Football League, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an communication that he has already submitted a documented not guilty plea to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a release hearing, Eiglarsh said.

According to his arrest document, Brown is accused of grabbing a firearm from a safety guard after a public figure match contest in May and discharging a couple of bullets at a individual he had confronted with earlier. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one of the bullets touched his throat.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was only defending himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was obliged to take were exclusively in self-defense against the reported person’s aggressive behavior. Brown was attacked that time and acted within his legal privilege to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not right away apprehended because at first officers did not identify Nantambu as a affected party. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu gave a full account about the incident to police and pointed out Brown as the shooter, the affidavit says.

From his digital posts, Brown had been staying in the city of Dubai for multiple weeks. In a post after the altercation, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “assaulted by numerous persons who sought to take my possessions and bring personal harm to me.”

A category two murder attempt allegation in Florida imposes a highest 15-year jail penalty and up to a $10,000 penalty in the event of a finding.

Brown has dealt with multiple court problems over the years. He before had been alleged of assault of a delivery employee, multiple domestic violence accusations, failure to pay parental support and other incidents.

Throughout a recent game with the Buccaneers against the opponents, Brown stripped off his jersey, shoulder pads and handwear and exited the stadium, leading to his dismissal by the Buccaneers and practically halting his professional journey.

Brown, who spent twelve years in the National Football League, was an elite receiver who spent the bulk of his tenure with the Steelers. For his career, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight catches for above 12,291 yards, the 28th highest of all time. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
